Memory Verses

In Spring 2025, the governors supported the idea of creating memory verses to help our children better learn and remember scripture. 

Christians throughout the ages have memorised the Scriptures. Since the earliest written record of the Old Testament (around 3,000 years ago) right up to the last 200 years, it was very rare for people to have access to the Scriptures. On top of that, most people for most of history have not been able to read. If you wanted to get to know it, you had to have it read to you. If you wanted to really know it, you have to memorise it.

We will follow what is, initially, a two-year programme, with the whole school learning the same verse at the same time. These verses will run on a half-termly basis, learnt in the class and through collective worship. We will seek to learn the verses by heart, and understand their meaning and impact on our lives.
