Pupil Premium

Wilson’s Endowed Church of England Primary School, in common with all other local schools, receives its funding from the Government via Lancashire Local Authority. One element of this funding is called the PUPIL PREMIUM. The amount of this additional funding varies from school to school and is dependent on 3 factors. Our evidence informed approach to pupil premium is to ensure that all children make good or better progress – including those whose family circumstances generate Pupil Premium income for the school. 

We use the EEF’s tiered approach which focuses on improving teaching, providing targeted academic support and wider strategies to remove non-academic barriers to success in school, including attendance, behaviour and social and emotional support.

The progress of children from different ‘groups’ is carefully tracked, provision is made for a flexible arrangement of support and class teachers identify/review the specific needs of children. 

The Pupil Premium statement details how we plan to spend our PPG (Pupil Premium Grant) in the next year. This is focused on teaching, academic support and wider opportunities. It is our belief that these initiatives will benefit all the children, with particular focus on our PPG children.
